Our facebook rules:

Let’s all share info and knowledge about fish keeping and try to be mature adults, being supportive and respectful. If you have any concerns please contact one of our admins.
We do NOT allow: bashing, negativity, instigating drama, unsupportive or otherwise rude comments (no matter how true they might be), or posts bashing the group or admin team. If you have a problem with a thread, please REPORT IT or PM an admin, DO NOT make rude or negative comments. Do NOT private message group members to insult them. If you feel like someone is sharing misinformation about an aspect of our hobby, then word a response politely and offer the correct information.
If you do not follow the rules you may be deleted without warning/another word. Admins at times may turn off commenting on posts. If a post is considered to be breaking the rules, it will be deleted.

Facebook has banned the sale of live animals by individuals since 2017. While we are not “officially” a Buy and Sell group, we will be enforcing the policies. Recently there have been a large number of groups getting warned or removed for content that violates the commerce policy. To protect our club and our internet presence, the admins will be enforcing the rules for the sale of live animals.

There will be NO live animal posts allowed directly to the group. If you wish to share your hobby and the fish you have put great effort and care into producing, these are the options we can allow:

  • You can share a public post from your own timeline to the group, commenting on the shared post (and therefore our page) is not permitted. You can click through to the original post or contact via PM. Admins may remove and turn off commenting on posts to keep any trades/sales off of the page.
  • You can post externally through TradeMe, the FNZAS forums or another external site (like the recently launched somethingfishy.co.nz or a personal website) and create a post linking to there. Again, commenting on the shared post (and therefore our page) is not permitted.
  • You can attend one of our monthly meetings to trade in person with like-minded hobbyists – we even hold auction nights.
  • Please keep any dealings off the page – we recommend using private messages through Facebook’s Messenger and will remove comments/posts in breach.
  • Be sure to protect yourself when dealing with buying or selling online. Facebook has tips for safe buying/selling..
